Tasting Notes

Nose: Vanilla, loads of orange and citrus notes, milk chocolate, caramel, floral bouquet, cinnamon, and some apple.

Palate: Medium to light weight, spice forward with a good amount of heat, brown sugar, chocolate, more orange, pepper, fruity, more cinnamon and some clove.

Finish: Medium to long length, spice, some nuttiness and cinnamon, a bit of sweetness and a touch of oak with lingering anise.

Rating: 76/100 – Great | Well above average

Another solid blend from the Barrell team and a step up from the standard Stellum bourbon offering. The flavor hits big and delivers a wonderful profile full of brown sugar, candied orange, and baking spice. Unfortunately the heat hits hard as well, punishing more than I’d like and exposing an underwhelming viscosity for a bourbon in this price range. Ultimately it’s a whiskey that I think any bourbon fan would enjoy, while also being one that may not be worth the splurge to everyone.
