Tasting Notes
Nose: Opens with a quick hit of vanilla that’s quickly replaced by a ton of tropical fruit and deep cherry notes. Oak and cedar, floral character, and faint mint round out the nose.
Palate: Medium mouth feel, light tannins, pepper and cinnamon spices, an interesting espresso note, and then another wave of fruits: apple, cherry, mango, papaya and orange.
Finish: Medium length, a touch more espresso, oak, vanilla, mangos and oranges.
Rating: 80/100 – Excellent | Really quite exceptional
Another fantastic bourbon from Barrell. I have to say that I’m a much bigger fan of this fruit bomb profile than the savory, cinnamon profile that I got from their 2022 New Year release. Beneath the fruit was a really lovely espresso note that I can’t recall tasting in a bourbon, but provided a nice contrast to the sweeter aspects of the whiskey. Overall they did a great job of crafting a complex blend without relying on traditional oak and caramel bourbon notes.
