Tasting Notes

Nose: Vanilla, berries, brown sugar, charred oak, cocoa, and a little cinnamon.

Palate: Medium to thick mouth feel, moderate oak and tannins, some heat, brown sugar, black pepper, more vanilla, light fruits and floral notes.

Finish: Medium length, cinnamon spice, vanilla, raspberries, mint, and a drying tannic oak.

Rating: 78/100 – Great | Well above average

Not bad at all, though perhaps a tad disappointing. It seems like the floor on these Four Roses picks is almost always a great bourbon, but at $84 I want more than that. These Total Wine store picks continue to underperform against similar selections from local shops and I will probably be passing on them going forward, unless they release the OBSF recipe that I’ve been hoping to try.

Additional Info: This is the OBSV recipe which is known for “delicate fruit and rye”.
