Aberlour 12 Year, 40%

Nose: Opens rich and sweet but I have to work through some ethanol, sherry and lots of fruit: raisins, apples, raspberries

Palate: Medium to thin mouth feel, stone fruits, vanilla and honey, nutmeg, apple juice

Finish: Short to medium length, gentle with fruits and a touch of chocolate, slight oak bitterness

Rating: 60/100 – Good | Better than average

A well executed blend of sherry and traditional oak casks to create one of the better entry level Speyside single malts. The abv on these bottles seems to vary by location and this sample happens to be 80 proof which does it no favors.
