Tasting Notes
Nose: Honey, caramel and fresh lightly toasted oak. There are some pleasant vanilla and floral notes with hints of cinnamon.
Palate: Medium mouth feel, opens with cinnamon and pepper spice followed by nutmeg, more honey sweetness.
Finish: Medium length, cinnamon and nutmeg spices taper quickly and rich honey lingers with a little oak.
Rating: 67/100 – Good | Better than average
Very nicely balanced. The spices keep it interesting and the rich honey notes are a different variety of bourbon sweetness that I really enjoy. There’s a surprising amount of depth to this whiskey, something that’s become more uncommon at this price point as demand continues to climb. If it were available in MA, I think Smoke Wagon Straight Bourbon would be my new “daily sipper”. If you’re fortunate enough to live in an area that has it, I would highly recommending grabbing a bottle.
