Tasting Notes
Nose: A decadent nose of dried stone fruits, almonds, citrus zest, espresso, saline and mineral notes with a hint of smoke.
Palate: Medium mouth feel with an oiliness, fruity and nutty exhibiting plenty of Oloroso influence, candied ginger, oranges, black pepper spice, and some mineral Springbank character.
Finish: Medium length, drying with gentle tannins, smoke, more fruit, dark chocolate, coffee, leather.
Rating: 87/100 – Excellent | Really quite exceptional
A big sherry finish that doesn’t overwhelm the Hazelburn malt character, this well executed release brings a lot of interesting notes without being too Springbank-y. The dark chocolate and espresso notes in particular make this an excellent dessert dram. I’ll be looking to try more Hazelburn releases in the future.
