Tasting Notes
Nose: Powerful and sweet, raisins, figs, dates, and other stone fruits. Walnut, caramel, and plenty of baking spice with clove and nutmeg. Subtle oak and maltiness add depth.
Palate: Heavy and syrupy, Luxardo cherries and dark fruits, more baking spice, oak, apples, black tea, and tobacco. It drinks a touch hot for the proof. Digging further I get a hint of lemon peel and an interesting umami mushroom note.
Finish: Medium to long length, opens with spice which quickly fades followed by more dark fruits and lemon zest, caramel, chocolate, tobacco and lingering oak.
Rating: 90/100 – Incredible | An all time favorite
A decadent, well-aged sherry bomb packed with complexity and depth. The longer I linger with it, the more intriguing notes reveal themselves, particularly that unexpected umami mushroom note that takes it in a unique direction. The interplay of dark fruits, spices, and oak is beautifully balanced, making this a whisky that keeps evolving with every sip. Glen Moray truly nailed it with this release – combining the depth of age with the boldness of a well-crafted sherry cask finish.
