Four Roses OBSQ Kappy’s 2021 Pick 10 Year, 64.7%
Nose: Burnt caramel and brown sugar, maple syrup, rich dark oak, lots of vanilla and some rose (there could be four but it’s hard to say).
Palate: Thick, weighty mouthfeel and super drinkable, loads of dark brown sugar and oak, graham cracker, followed by baking spices, becomes herbal with a little with rosemary and oregano.
Finish: Medium to long length, anise, intense with more floral notes of rose and lavender, less drying than expected for the amount of oak influence present.
Rating: 90/100 – Incredible | An all time favorite
This is without a doubt the best bourbon in my collection. The only one I’ve rated higher is George T. Stagg and unfortunately that was not my bottle. Just an awesome pick by Kappy’s that’s packed with flavor, perfectly oaked and very easy drinking at nearly 130 proof.
Additional Info: This is the OBSQ recipe which is known for its “rye and light floral character”. Mash bill is 60% corn, 35% rye and 5% malted barley.
