Ardbeg Uigeadail, 54.2%
Nose: Stewed fruits, leather, ocean salt, oak, earthy peat, musty
Palate: Oily, slightly hot, peppery, savory, bacon, bbq, seaweed and plenty of peat
Finish: Long, wonderfully warm, sherry sweetness comes through here with raisins and apples
Rating: 80/100 – Excellent | Really quite exceptional
An excellent marriage of sweet and peat at the right proof! The sherry casks do a great job of keeping this from getting too hot and add a lovely, fruity element, while the younger Ardbeg malt provides plenty of black pepper, pork, and maritime notes. It’s a tough call between this and Corryvreckan for my favorite core Ardbeg offering.
