Stellum Rye, 58.12%
Nose: Floral, vanilla, anise, bread dough, apples and peaches, mint, nutmeg and clove
Palate: Intense spice right off the bat with white pepper and cinnamon, oily mouth feel, surprising amount of anise, dill, wintergreen, strawberry, clove
Finish: Medium to long length, white pepper and cinnamon linger, mint, honey sweetness
Rating: 72/100 – Great | Well above average
Very well blended stuff. This is a great option for someone who isn’t afraid of a rye with a lot of upfront spice. It has more anise than I would normally care for but it actually works quite well here. Retail is $55 and at that price point I think Stellum is a great barrel proof rye option.
