Riverset Small Batch Rye, 46.5%
Nose: Allspice and clove, a little heat and then peach iced tea, vanilla, and some mild black pepper.
Palate: Thin to medium mouth feel, some rye spice, more peaches and a little apple.
Finish: Short length, black pepper spice with some oak.
Rating: 62/100 – Good | Better than average
Solid stuff at its $30 price point. It’s a lot more fruity than most of the other 95/5 ryes on the market, with that unique peach note giving it a summery feel. At 93 proof, Riverset won’t get bullied in a cocktail, and its high rye mash bill is more lively than a bourbon or traditional Kentucky rye.
Additional Info: Distilled in Tennessee from a 95% rye, 5% malted barley mash bill. Aged a minimum of four years.
